Brighten Your Plants: Easy DIY Crepe Paper–Wrapped Pot

Give a plain planter an instant style update with this simple and budget-friendly DIY: a crepe paper–wrapped pot. This quick craft adds color, texture, and a playful fringed edge to any small pot — perfect for succulents or other indoor plants. No special skills required.

SUPPLIES

• Crepe paper
• Fringe scissors
• Scissors
• Succulent (or another small potted plant)

1. Measure and cut: Cut a piece of crepe paper long enough to wrap around the pot. Position the crepe paper so the paper's stretch runs horizontally around the pot (this lets the wrap conform to the pot's curve).
2. Create a fringed edge: Use fringe scissors along the top edge. The scissors should cut partially to create a fringe while leaving the lower edge intact so the fringe stays attached to the main strip.
3. Wrap the pot: Wrap the prepared crepe paper around the pot so the fringe sits at the top. Tuck or fold the ends so the seam sits neatly on the back or underside of the pot.
4. Secure the wrap: Cut another strip of crepe paper (again with the stretch horizontal) and tie it around the middle of the pot to hold the wrap in place. Trim any excess paper for a clean finish.
5. Finish and display: Tuck the fringe or fan it out for extra texture. Place your succulent back in the pot if removed, or display the wrapped pot as a decorative cover for an existing planter.
