Crochet Gingerbread Doll

Crochet Hook - G
Yarn - Worsted Weight (4) – C1-Light Brown 3oz.,
1 oz. of C2 white, C3 black, C4 Red and C5Green
Stuffing – Poly fiber fill
Stitch markers
Yarn Needle

Stitches:
Chain (ch)
Single Crochet (sc)
Change (chg)

Size: About 15 inches from pompom to feet.
Head and Body – Are Stitched in one piece.
We will be starting at the top of the head and work in rounds.
R: 1 - Ch 2, 5 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, join in a circle. (6 sc)
R: 2 - 2 sc in each sc, (12 sc)
R: 3 - *1 sc in the 1st sc, 2 sc in the next sc, Repeat from * around, (18 sc)
R: 4 - * 1 sc in the 1st 2 sc, 2 sc in the next sc, Repeat from * around, (24 sc)
R: 5 - * 1 sc in the 1st 4 sc, 2 sc in the next sc, Repeat from * around, (32 sc)
R: 6 - * 1 sc in the 1st 6sc, 2 sc in the next sc, Repeat from * around, (43 sc)
R: 7 – R: 8 - 1 sc in each sc, (43 sc)
R: 9 – Chg to C2, 1 sc in each sc, (43sc)
R: 10 – Chg back to C1, 1 sc in each sc, (43sc)
R: 11 – R: 35 – Repeat R: 10
R: 36 – Chg to C2, 1 sc in each sc, (43sc)
R: 37 - Chg back to C1, 1 sc in each sc, (43sc)
R: 38 – R: 40 - 1 sc in each sc, tie off after R: 40,
leaving a 24 inch tail of yarn for sewing the bottom closed.
Stuff the head and body, flatten it and sew closed.
Arms and Legs: Make 4
The Arms and the Legs are all made exactly the same.
R: 1 - Ch 2, 5 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, join in a circle. (6 sc)
R: 2 - 2 sc in each sc, (12 sc)
R: 3 - *1 sc in the 1st sc, 2 sc in the next sc, Repeat from * around, (18 sc)
R: 4- R: 6 - 1 sc in each sc, (18 sc)
R: 7 – Chg to C2, 1 sc in each sc, (18 sc)
R: 8 – Chg back to C1, 1 sc in each sc (18 sc)
R: 9 - R: 18 – 1 sc in each sc, tie off after R: 18,

Leave an 18 inch tail of yarn for sewing closed and sewing onto doll.
Stuff each arm and leg and sew them onto the doll.

Scarf:
With 1 strand each of red and white, ch 41,
Turn and sl st back down the ch, tie off.
Add a few pieces of Fringe to the end of each scarf.
Tie the scarf around the neck area of the doll, this will form the head.
Eyes, Buttons and Peppermint:
These are all made the same:
Black for eyes (make 2)
green for buttons (make 2)
Red and White for peppermint (make 1)
Ch 2, 6 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook, join to first sc with a slst, tie off,
Leaving a 12 inch tail of yarn for sewing in place.
Place on the doll and sew securely.
Candy Cane:

Using 1 strand each of red and white yarn, ch 12,
Turn 1 slst in the 2nd ch from the hook, and in each ch, tie off
and sew onto the Gingerbread man’s hand.
Pom pom :
Using 2 strands of yarn, red and white, wrap the yarn around your hand about 20 time.
Cut a piece of yarn about 18 inches. Slip the piece of yarn through the loops and tie a knot.
Cut the loops and trim them evenly.
Attach Pom pom to the top of the head.
