Knitting instructions:

Jacket Sizes: 38/40 (42/44)

You will need

  • 750 (800) g of raspberry Whisper yarn (55% wool, 45% cotton, 117 m/50 g).
  • Crochet hook No. 4.
  • 2 pink buttons.

Relief Pattern: stitch count multiple of 8 + 5. Knit according to the chart. Start with the stitches before the repeat, repeat the pattern stitches, finish with the stitch after the repeat. From the 1st to the 10th row, knit once, then repeat from the 3rd to the 10th row.

Knitting gauge: 19.5 sts and 10 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Work Description

Back: Chain 93 (101) + 3 chain stitches for lifting and knit in the relief pattern. After 40 cm from the casting edge, leave 4 sts on both sides and in the next row leave 1 x 4 sts for the armholes unworked = 77 (85) sts. After 58 (60) cm from the casting edge, leave the middle 43 sts for the neckline and finish both sides separately. For the rounding, leave 1 x 4 sts unworked from the inside edge in the next row and finish the piece at 60 (62) cm from the casting edge on the remaining 13 (17) shoulder sts.

Left Front: Chain 45 (49) + 3 chain stitches for lifting and knit in the relief pattern. For size 42/44, start with the stitches before the repeat, repeat the pattern stitches, ending with the first 4 sts of the repeat. Decrease for the armholes on the right edge as for the back = 37 (41) sts. After 48 (50) cm from the casting edge, leave 12 sts unworked on the left edge for the neckline. For the rounding, leave 3 x 4 sts unworked in each following row. Finish the piece at the back height on the remaining 13 (17) shoulder sts.

Right Front: Knit symmetrically.

Sleeves: Chain 53 + 3 chain stitches for lifting and knit in the relief pattern. After 10 (7) cm from the casting edge, increase on both sides for slopes 12 x 1 st in every 3rd row (16 x 1 st alternately in every 2nd and 3rd row), incorporating the increased sts into the pattern = 77 (85) sts. After 48 cm from the casting edge, leave 5 sts on both sides for the sleeve cap and then in each following row leave 1 x 2, *1 x 1, 1 x 2, 1 x 1 st unworked, repeat from * 3 more times, and leave 1 x 1 and 1 x 2 sts. Finish the work at 64 cm from the casting edge on the remaining 25 (33) sts.

Assembly: Sew the seams. Set in the sleeves. For the neckline band, chain 125 + 3 chain stitches for lifting and knit in the relief pattern. After 4 rows from the casting edge, finish the work. Sew the band to the neckline. For the button bands, edge the front edges of the fronts and the short sides of the neckline band with 93 (101) sts in the relief pattern, making 2 buttonholes in the right front band after 2 rows (= skip 1 st and chain 1). Place the first buttonhole 5 sts from the neckline edge, and the second 11 sts apart. Finish the band at 5 rows high, knitting the 5th row as the 3rd row. Sew on the buttons.
