What you need

  • 1.5 or 2 mm crochet hook
  • Body: yarn of your choice
  • Mouth: yarn of your choice
  • Embroidered details: yarn of your choice (nose, eyes, whiskers)
  • Stuffing
  • Keychain ring (optional)

Instructions

Mouth

Start with the color of your choice. Preferably a color that will contrast the color of the face.

Rnd 1: ch 2, work 6 dc into first ch - 6 st.
Rnd 2: 2 dc in each st around - 12 st.

Leave a long string to attach to the face.

Head

Start with the color of your preference.

Rnd 1: ch 2, work 6 dc into first ch - 6 st.
Rnd 2: 2 dc in each st around - 12 st.
Rnd 3: [2 dc in next st, dc in next st] 6 times - 18 st.
Rnd 4: [2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 st] 6 times - 24 st.
Rnd 5: [2 dc in next st, dc in next 3 st] 6 times - 30 st.
Rnd 6-8: (3 rounds) dc in each st around - 30 st.

Stop here. Attach the cat’s mouth to the face, placing it just below the center of your spiral. Then embroider the face details (eyes, nose, and whiskers) using the colors of your choice. Once you’re happy with the face, continue where you left off.

Rnd 9: [dc2tog, dc in next 3 st] 6 times - 24 st.
Rnd 10: [dc2tog, dc in next 2 st] 6 times - 18 st.
Rnd 11: [dc2tog, dc in next st] 6 times - 12 st.

Stuff the head.

Rnd 12: [dc2tog] 6 times - 6 st.
Rnd 13: [dc2tog] 3 times and fasten off - 0 st.

Ears (make 2)

Rnd 1: ch 5, insert the hook into the previous stitch and dc. Then tr (treble) on the next st, 2tr (double treble) on the next st, ttr (triple treble) on the next stitch.

Leave a long string to attach it to the head.

Now we’ll attach both ears to the head. To do this, simply insert the hook forming a diagonal line from one side to the ear to the other (see picture). Pull the string of yarn towards the other end of the ear and tie a knot. Hide the strings inside the body.

Optional: Attach a keychain ring to turn it into a cute kitty keychain.
