Supplies needed for this quick water bottle holder pattern

Yarn – Any DK-weight yarn can be used for this project. The prototype was made using Hobbii Twister Summer, fine, #2 (55% Cotton, 45% Acrylic, 1093 yards/1000m per 250g Cake).

Please note that 2 strands of the above yarn were used throughout. You can substitute with any DK (#3) yarn.

Foundation row

*skip next 3 sts, dc in next st, ch 1, crocheting over the dc just made, dc in second skipped stitch

First crossed double crochet lace made. Repeat from * across.


How to work the second crossed double crochet lace

Next row of crossed double crochet lace (xdcl) = *skip ch 1 -sp, next st and next ch 1-sp, dc in next st (this is the first leg of xdcl made into the 4th stitch), ch 1, crocheting over the dc just made, dc in the second leg (st) stitch.

First crossed double crochet lace made. , Repeat from * across.

Note – when making the second row of xdcl, you only crochet into the dc stitches and skip all chain 1 spaces.


Shell – (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in indicated stitch

Instruction for the crochet water bottle carrier pattern

Section 1 –Base

Round 1: In a magic ring, ch 2 (does not count as a stitch), 12 hdc in magic ring, join. 12 hdc

Place the stitch marker on the last stitch and move it after every round, no need to join.

Round 2: 2 hdc in each around. 24 hdc

Round 3 :*hdc in next, 2 hdc in next, repeat from * around. 36 hdc

Round 4: *hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next, repeat from * around. 48 hdc

With a sl st, close the height difference.


Section 2: Body

Round 1: Ch 1, in BLO, hdc in each st around, with a sl st, join with a sl st to the beginning ch. 48 hdc

Round 2: Ch 3, *xdcl, ch 1, skip next st, repeat from * around, join with a sl st to the beginning ch. 12 xdcl

Rounds 3 – 15: Repeat Round 2

Increase or reduce the repeats for a desirable length.


Section 3 – Edging

Round 1: Ch 3, *shell in ch 1 sp between next xdcl, sc in next ch 1 sp of next xdcl, rep from * around, join


Section 4 – Handle

Join yarn with a sl st to any 5th dc in any of the shells

Row 1: Ch 1, sc in next 2 dc (last 2 dc’s of the shell), sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts (first 2 dc of the next shell), turn – 5 sc

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn – 5 sc

Rows 3 – 44: Repeat row 2


Edging

Crocheting across the long edges of the strap.

Join yarn with a sl st to the base where you started the handle.

Row 1: Ch 1, sc in each edge across, ch 1, sc in next 5 sts (short edge), ch 1, sc in each edge across, turn.

To make your crochet handle more sturdy

Row 2: Ch 1, sl st in each st across; aim for ch 1 at each corner.

Fasten off.


To join the handle to the opposite side of the cover

Weave in all ends.
