It's a simple craft project that brings a bit of the beach into your home with a warm and cozy glow. Enjoy the process and the lovely ambiance your handmade seashell candles will create!

Step 1: Materials and tools to make DIY seashell candles

You’ll need the following items:
standard tea lights
decorative seashells
glass container such as a Pyrex
large pot
essential oils

Step 2: Separate wicks from the wax

If you’re a regular candle making pro and have candle wicks and wax flakes you can feel free to use that. But for this DIY seashell candle tutorial I’ve decided to just use tealights for their wax and wicks since it’s something that most people will already have in their homes.

Take your tealights and pop out the the wax candles out of the metal tins. You should be gently work the wicks out with your fingers and separate it from the wax part.

Step 3: Set up wicks in seashells

Place your shells on a flat surface lined with paper.

Stand up each of the wicks in the deepest part of the shells. Make sure the wicks are standing up straight and not bent over.

Step 4: Melt wax the wax

Fill a saucepan with water to about the halfway mark. Take the wax from your tea lights and place them in the glass container in the saucepan to create a double boiler.

Be sure the water level is low enough so it won’t splash into the wax flakes when it starts to boil. Turn your stove on to medium-high, and use a metal spoon to stir occasionally to assist with melting the wax evenly.

Step 5: Add scent (optional)

This is an optional step if you would like to add scent to your candles. Once your wax has melted, simply add 5 to 8 drops of favourite essential oils to your melted wax and gently stir.

Step 6: Pour wax into seashells

Carefully pour your melted wax into each shell and stop at 1/3 inch from the rim. Let the wax cool and set.

Step 7: Light your DIY seashell candles and enjoy!

Once the wax has cooled and set, you’re ready to light your DIY seashell candles, relax and enjoy
