Materials

Round cotton makeup pads
Red pipe cleaners/chenille stems
Small dowel rod
White yarn
Red yarn
Black craft paper
Red craft paper
Black marker

Tools

Scissors
Hot glue gun
Hot glue sticks

Instructions

Use a cotton pad to trace a circle onto the black paper then cut it out

Fold this circle in half.

Now, fold a 1"x3" strip of red paper in half, then cut a triangle from it with the point on the open ends. This will be the beak.

Glue the dowel rod to the center of one of the cotton pads.
Then glue the beak on the outside of that pad.

Now, top it with another cotton pad

Glue another cotton pad 1" below this.

Top it with a second pad sealing the dowel between them.

Glue the folded black circle so the flat end faces outward on the bottom back of the bottom cotton pads.

Twist the pipe cleaners around the base of the dowel below the bottom cotton pads.

Cut a 12" piece of both the white and red yarn.

Twist the yarn together, then use it to tie a bow around the "neck" of the bird.

Use a marker to draw an eye on the head just above the beak

Notes

Replace the cotton pads with circles of paper, felt, or fabric if desired.
