tr2tog. Treble Crochet Two Together
Leaving last loop of each tr on hook, work 2tr in next stitch, yrh, pull through all loops.

clv. Cluster V-Stitch
(1tr2tog, 1ch, 1tr2tog) into same space or stitch
5ch counts as first tr and 2ch
Base of ch. Work into first stitch
Approx Finished Size: 9.5 x 9.5 Inches

Materials

For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-
100 grams of King Cole Cottonsoft DK yarn in colour 1
Small amounts of King Cole Cottonsoft DK yarn in each of colours 2 & 3

4.50mm crochet hook

UK INSTRUCTIONS:

Made in multiples of 3 + 1.
Make 2 pieces the same – With colour 1 make 34ch loosely, 1clv into 5th ch from hook, (see abbrev) * miss 2ch, work 1clv into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch, miss 1ch, 1tr into last ch. Turn. (10 clv)
2nd Row – 1ch, 1tr into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, work 1clv into each 1ch space to end, 1tr into last tr. Turn.

Rpt 2nd Row in colour sequence as follows:-

Once in colour 1, twice in colour 2, four times in colour 1, twice in colour 3 and three times in colour 1.
You should have 14 rows worked in all and work should measure approx 7.5 inches. Turn.
Starting with 1ch and working 3dc into the corners, work 1dc into the stitch at the base of the 1ch, 31dc evenly along each of the 4 sides of the hot pad to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row.

Assemble – Place both pieces together, pushing any loose yarn to the inside, work through the dc on both pieces. Starting with 3ch and working 3tr into the corners, work 1tr into the stitch at the base of the 3ch, 1tr into each dc to end, ss to the top of 3ch on beginning of row. DNT.

Second Row – 3ch, 1tr into the stitch at the base of the 3ch, * fptr around next tr, bptr around next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, working 3tr into each corner, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in loose end of yarn.
