Easy DIY Pom-Pom Baby Easter Chicks — Quick Craft for Kids & Decor

Turn yarn and a few felt scraps into adorable baby Easter chicks in just a few simple steps. This family-friendly DIY uses pom-poms for the body and head, with felt accents for wings, beak and feet. These little chicks make cheerful table decorations, basket toppers or handmade gifts — and you can even use them for a playful race after crafting.

What you’ll need:

• Orange and yellow felt
• Yellow yarn
• Hot glue gun
• Fork or pom-pom loom

Directions:

1. Use a large fork or pom-pom maker to wind and make two pom-poms — one smaller for the head and one larger for the body. Trim evenly so they are round and fluffy.
2. Cut two wing shapes from yellow felt by stacking two pieces and folding them in half; aim for an oval with one end flattened. For the feet, cut slightly larger shapes from orange felt.
3. Cut a small V or triangle from orange felt for the beak.
4. Glue the beak to the center of the smaller pom-pom (the head). Then attach the head to the top of the larger pom-pom (the body) with hot glue.
5. Fold the wing pieces slightly and add a small dab of hot glue at the folded end, then press them onto the sides of the body pom-pom. Attach the orange feet to the base of the larger pom-pom.

Tips: Trim excess yarn fibers for a neater look. You can add tiny felt dots, beads or small googly eyes if you want to give each chick a face. Supervise hot-glue use when kids are crafting.

When finished, line the chicks up for a light-hearted Easter race or arrange them in a basket as a cute spring display.
