Reuse Egg Cartons To Make Black-Eyed Susan Flowers

• White Paint (optional only needed if you want to lighten the color of your paints)
• Paint Brush
• Scissors
• 5 Flex Straws
• 2 Paper Egg Cartons
• Hot Glue Gun & Glue
• Yellow Paint
• Green Paint
• Black Paint

How To Make These Flowers:

To start you need to cut out the center-raised areas of the egg carton. I had 5 in each carton.

In each of the corners make a cut that goes most of the way down. When done it should kinda look like a windmill shape.

Trim the edges so they look more like flower petals. You want them to be more rounded and not a windmill shape.

On the bottom of the sections that hold the eggs, there is a little round area. Cut out 5 of those. If yours do not have a circle, just cut one out yourself.

Grab those first petal pieces and paint them yellow. You want to paint them inside and out. Set aside and allow it to dry.

The small circle pieces you want to paint those black.

You need to paint the straws green. I found it best to set these up in something, I used the small holes in the top of the egg carton. Paint half the straw first and allow it to dry. Then when dry flip over and paint the other ends.

Cut two small slits in the flexy end of the straw.

Bend those out so the straw is split in half on the end.

In the hole of the bottom of the yellow parts, push the straw through. If your carton pieces do not already have a hole, make one just big enough to fit the straw. Use a dot of glue to attach the slit straw pieces to the petals.

Now add some glue over the glued straw and add another set of yellow petals over the glued straw. Turn it so the petals are in the gaps of the other petals.

Glue the black circle into the center of the flower.

What Other Types Of Flowers Would This Work For?

While I made these to be black-eyed Susan flowers, you could make these to be any type of flower in the daisy family. You simply need to just change up the color of the paint.
