Supplies

Here’s what you need for this cute project:

Miniature Reese’s Cups: Make sure to get the ones that says “miniature cups” and NOT the ones that say “unwrapped minis” which are super small.
Black Cardstock: Any thick black paper should work – I like to get individual sheets of cardstock at Hobby Lobby
Embroidery Floss: You’ll use this to make the tassels. I used gold to match the Reese’s, but it would be fun to match the school colors! Embroidery floss is sold at any craft store for less than a dollar. If you can’t find it, you could use narrow ribbon instead, or even strips of colored paper in a pinch.

How to Make Reese’s Grad Caps

Cut the Paper + Thread
These grad caps are so easy to make! First, cut the black cardstock into 1.5 inch squares. Then cut 5 inch lengths of embroidery floss in whatever color you’ve chosen.

To make the embroidery floss look like a tassel, take each piece and fold it in half. Then tie a knot near the fold, as shown below.

Glue the Caps Together

Now it’s time to glue the caps together. I used a gluestick, but you can use a different adhesive if you like. Just don’t use hot glue because that can melt the candy! Put some adhesive on the knotted end of the embroidery floss and press it down in the center of a black square. Trim the embroidery floss a bit shorter if desired.

Use gluestick to glue tassel on top of black square.

Then put adhesive on the top of a mini Reese’s cup and attach it to the other side of the black square. If you use gluestick, leave the caps undisturbed for 10-15 minutes for the glue to set up.
