Sparkling Crushed-Glass Mason Jar — Easy DIY Upcycle & Luminary Tutorial
If you're looking to add a touch of sparkle to your home decor, try this easy DIY crushed-glass mason jar. It’s a simple upcycle that turns a plain jar into a shimmering luminary or vase — great for shelves, tabletops, or centerpieces.
Materials you’ll need: a clean glass jar (I used a vintage Kerr jar), Elmer's Glue All (works well as a thick glitter/glue base), crushed glass or glitter mix (I used a light aqua mix), gloss Mod Podge for sealing, a brush, and an optional string of LED lights to turn the jar into a luminary.

I used the vintage Kerr jar. I coated with Elmers Glue All. I like Elmers better for glitter bases over Mod Podge as it’s thicker.

Working section by section, press or sprinkle your crushed glass or glitter onto the glue. I covered the glass and also sprinkled some of my light aqua glitter mix to fill in some of the spaces.

After the glitter/crushed glass dried, I top coated with gloss Mod Podge. I did two coats to seal everything and add a durable glossy finish. Allow each coat to dry fully before applying the next.

Use as a luminary or a vase. I used a string of Led Lights.

Tips: work over a tray to catch excess glitter/crushed glass for reuse; wear gloves if you’re handling coarse crushed glass; and take your time sealing edges so small pieces don’t come loose. Enjoy your new decorative upcycle!
