DIY Monstera Leaf Pillows

Creating DIY Monstera Leaf Pillows can add a fun and tropical touch to your living space. These leaf-shaped pillows are a creative way to bring some greenery indoors without the need for a green thumb. With some fabric, stuffing, and basic sewing skills, you can whip up a cozy and stylish pillow that will make a statement in your home decor. Whether you're a crafting pro or a newbie, this project is sure to bring a smile to your face every time you see those lush green leaves nestled on your couch or bed. Happy crafting!

The Supplies:

Different shades of green flannel (about 1/2 yard for each pillow)
Chalk
Scissors, thread, and sewing machine
Poly-fil
Fabric glue and clothes pins or clips

Begin by folding your fabric equally in half and use the chalk to draw a monstera leaf on the fabric.

You will want to draw it so that the leaf segments are thick and the space between each is very thin. Be sure to fill up as much of the half of a yard as possible. The bigger the pillow, the easier it is to turn right side out and stuff.

Once your leaf is drawn, use your sewing machine to stitch over the chalk lines leaving 4″ open at the bottom of the leaf. Then use your scissors to cut out the pattern keeping about 1/4″ away from the stitched line and cutting all corners.

Once fully cut out, turn the pillow inside out through the 4″ opening and use a chopstick or other thin but not sharp object to push out all the leaf pieces. Then stuff with the poly fill making sure to get it into the tips of every leaf piece. Once full, use the fabric glue to glue the opening closed and use the clothes pins or clips to clip the fabric opening together while the glue dries. Once dry, remove the clips and your pillow is ready.

If you made your leave piece too far apart and your pillow looks more like an multi armed alien, you can hand stitch the leaf pieces together to create a more leaf like shape like I did for the large teal pillow.
