Charming Upcycled Spring Bunny — Easy Eco-Friendly Easter Decor Tutorial
Make a whimsical, eco-friendly decoration this spring with this simple Upcycled Spring Bunny project. Using recycled wire, a wooden ball, and small felt scraps, you can create a cute tabletop bunny that’s perfect for Easter or seasonal decor. This step-by-step guide walks you through the materials and assembly with helpful tips to get a neat, durable result.

What you need to make an upcycled spring bunny
Old spring or wire to make one — you could even use a wire coat hanger or repurpose other sturdy wire.
Large wooden ball – the one used here is about 6–7 cm in diameter.
Wood slice – roughly 10–12 cm in diameter for the base.
Scrap pieces of felt in grey and cream (sweater felt scraps work well).
Superglue gel (for stronger, controlled bonds).
Black Sharpie pen, fine tip (for drawing the face).

How to make the upcycled bunny rabbit
Step 1: Make the spring. If you don’t have a ready-made spring of the right size, form one from wire. A tapered spring can be made by wrapping the wire tightly around the neck of a bottle (the neck creates the taper). Make sure the coils are even and the spring is stable.

Step 2: Cut the felt shapes. Cut two ear shapes from the grey felt and two foot shapes from the cream felt. Keep the pieces proportional to your wooden ball head and wood-slice base.

Step 3: Attach the feet. Use the superglue gel to glue the cream felt feet onto the wood slice to create a stable base. Position them so the finished bunny will sit upright and balanced.

Step 4: Create the head. Draw the bunny’s face onto the wooden ball with a pencil first if you prefer, then go over your lines with the black Sharpie fine-tip marker. When the face looks right, glue the grey felt ears to the top of the wooden ball.

Step 5: Assemble the bunny. Glue the wooden ball head to the top of the spring using the superglue gel. Once that bond is secure, glue the bottom of the spring to the center of the wood-slice base so the bunny stands steadily.

Finishing tips: Allow all glued joints to fully cure before handling. Adjust the spring and placement slightly while the glue is still tacky to make sure the bunny stands level. Display your upcycled spring bunny on a mantel, shelf, or as part of an Easter centerpiece.
