Easy DIY Egg Candle Holders — Charming Spring Centerpiece with Moss & Flowers

Finished egg candle holders decorated with preserved moss and small flowers, each holding a flameless taper candle.

Materials:

  • Large hollow plastic eggs
  • Sharp knife
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun (low heat) & glue
  • Egg cups
  • Preserved moss
  • Dry foam
  • Candle holders (top pieces)
  • Flameless taper candles
  • E6000 glue
  • Toothpick
  • Fresh flowers

Instructions:

  1. Carefully use a sharp knife to puncture a hole in the top of the plastic egg, then use scissors to cut off the top in an uneven, cracked style. Trim any sharp edges with scissors.
  2. Repeat for each egg holder you want to make. The example uses two eggs.
  3. Apply hot glue around the rim of an egg cup and place the egg shell on top, pressing gently to secure.
  4. Lay the egg on its side and apply a second layer of hot glue between the egg and the cup. Press small pieces of preserved moss into the hot glue, working around the egg to cover the base decoratively.
  5. Flip the egg shell upside down onto a piece of dry foam and press gently to imprint the inside curve; this makes a foam insert that fits the egg shape.
  6. Remove the egg and trim away any excess dry foam with a knife so the foam fits neatly inside.
  7. Apply hot glue to the base of the dry foam and press it into the egg shell to hold the foam in place.
  8. Remove the top of a candle holder from its base. Apply E6000 glue to the bottom of the top piece and set it in the center of the foam inside the egg, pressing firmly to secure. Allow E6000 to cure per the manufacturer's instructions.
  9. Use a toothpick to create tiny holes in the dry foam and insert fresh flowers around the top of the candle holder for a natural look.
  10. Place flameless taper candles into the candle holder and enjoy your finished egg candle holders.

Tips and safety:

  • Flameless candles are recommended for this project to avoid fire risk around moss and dried materials.
  • Work carefully with knives, scissors, and hot glue. Use low-heat glue if possible and protect your work surface.
  • Customize colors and flowers to match your table setting or seasonal theme.

Happy Easter!
