Easy DIY: Turn Aveeno Jars into Stylish Upcycled Candle Holders

Give used skincare jars a second life by transforming them into chic, color-blocked candle holders. This simple upcycling project uses everyday materials—Plaster of Paris, PVC end caps and spray paint—to create stable bases and fresh, customized finishes. The result is a set of unique candle holders perfect for mantels, tabletops or gifts.

Supplies
- Aveeno Positively Radiant Overnight Hydrating Facial jars (empty, clean)
- Plaster of Paris
- Plastic container, cup and spoon for mixing
- PVC end caps (1/2 inch) to form bases
- Spray paint (primer/white and your chosen colors)
- Painter's tape
- Glue (strong craft or construction adhesive)
- Candles

Directions

1. Prepare jars: Clean and dry the empty Aveeno jars and remove any labels or residue.
2. Mix plaster: Follow the bag instructions or use about two parts plaster to one part water (as an approximate ratio used here). Stir until smooth.
3. Set base: Pour plaster into a small plastic container and press a PVC end cap into the plaster to create a flat base. Let the plaster cure fully until hard.
4. Prime: Spray-paint the cured plaster base and the PVC cap with white or a neutral primer to unify the surface.
5. Color-blocking: Use painter's tape to mask sections of the jars and caps. Spray paint the exposed areas with your chosen colors. For multi-color looks, tape and paint in stages, allowing each color to dry before re-taping.
6. Assemble: Once all paint is dry, glue the painted PVC cap to the bottom of the jar to create a stable candle holder.
7. Finish: After the glue cures, place a candle inside the jar or set a tealight on the capped base, and enjoy your upcycled candle holder.

- Try different jar sizes, textured paint, or metallic finishes for a varied set.
- If you prefer a removable base, skip gluing and use a snug-fitting cap instead.
- For outdoor use, choose spray paints and adhesives rated for exterior conditions.
