Create a charming light-up bunny using a ping-pong ball and a battery-operated tea light. This quick, budget-friendly craft is great for classroom parties, seasonal decor, or a simple weekend project. Note: some steps require sharp tools — adult supervision is recommended for children.

You will need:

  • Ping Pong ball (Dollar Tree)
  • Flicker light / battery operated tea light (Dollar Tree)
  • Permanent markers
  • Elmer's School Glue or hot glue
  • A pipe cleaner
  • Ribbon or fabric
  • Small pom pom
  • Pom pom or cotton ball (for tail)
  • Razor blade - or something to cut with
  • Screwdriver - or punch to poke a hole with
  • Scissors

Finished light-up bunny ready to brighten a shelf or table.

Cut an "X" in the bottom of the ping pong ball. This step is not for kids - I prepped this part for the class parties. You could try to have kids cut with something else like scissors, or poke it with an ice pick.

Carefully cut an X in the bottom of the ping-pong ball to create an opening.

Put the ping pong ball on the flicker candle / battery operated tea light.

Seat the modified ping-pong ball over the battery tea light so it sits securely.

Cut your pipe cleaner in 1/2 and then fold each piece in 1/2. Poke 2 holes in the top of the ping pong ball.

Cut and fold pipe cleaners to form the bunny ears.

Place the folded pipe cleaner into the holes on the top of the ping pong ball.

Insert the folded pipe cleaner pieces into two small holes to create ears.

Use your marker to draw a face on your ping pong ball and glue the small pom pom on as a nose.

Draw the bunny's face with permanent marker and add a tiny pom-pom nose.

Glue ribbon around the flicker candle and glue on a bow if desired.

Wrap ribbon around the base as a decorative collar and add a bow.

Glue the cotton ball or pom pom on the back for the tail.

Attach a small cotton ball or pom-pom to the back as a fluffy tail.

Let dry and your bunny is finished.

Allow glue to dry completely before handling.
