Materials:
- Wood Slice
- Chalkboard Paint
- Paint Brush
- Wrapped Wire
- Gold Florist Wire
- Hot Glue Gun & Glue
- Faux Spring Flowers
- Chalk
Tutorial:
- Paint the wood slice: First, paint one side of the wood slice with chalkboard paint. Let dry according to the paint manufacturer's instructions. Apply a second coat (and a third if you want a thicker, more even surface). Repeat on the other side if you want the chalkboard to be usable on both faces.
- Form the ears: Bend one piece of wrapped wire into the shape of a bunny ear. Use a short piece of gold florist wire to tie and secure the ends of the wrapped wire together. Repeat to make the second ear.
- Attach the ears: Use hot glue to attach the wrapped-wire ears to the top center of the chalkboard wood slice. Hold each ear in place until the glue sets.
- Add floral accents: Remove the flower tops from their stems and hot glue the flower tops around the ears at the top of the wood slice to create a floral crown or accent on both sides of the ears.
- Season the chalkboard: Lay the chalk flat and rub it across the chalkboard surface to season it (cover it evenly with chalk). Wipe with a dry cloth to spread, then use a damp cloth to remove excess and reveal a ready-to-write surface.
- Finish and decorate: Write your favorite Easter or spring quote, draw a bunny, or use it as a memo board for notes and reminders.
- Safety & tips: Use caution with hot glue around children. If you want the ears to be more secure, pin or staple the base before gluing. Follow the chalkboard paint manufacturer's directions for best results.
Thatβs it — enjoy your new Chalkboard Bunny! Happy Easter!
