Directions:

First, tie the strap that is attached to the umbrella into a short loop knot. The loop should be small enough to create a hole that you can run the twine through so the twine won't slide down the umbrella.

After you have knotted it, snap or Velcro it back to itself so you don’t have a tail hanging down.

Next, cut a piece of twine that will go all the way around the umbrella and tie it. Leave it slightly loose so the folds of the umbrella open a little, but not so loose that the flowers will slide down inside. Be sure to run the twine through the loop you made so it stays in place and does not slide down.

Now flip the umbrella over so the tied loop is on the back. Cut another small piece of twine and run it through the back of your bow (if your bow does not already have strings or wires for securing). Then tie that bow to the twine on the umbrella.

Last, add the flowers. Start inserting stems into each of the umbrella folds. If the flowers tend to slide down (this will depend on flower type and stem length), stuff a bit of tissue paper into the folds first to give the stems something to grip, then place the flowers back in.

Tips and display ideas: hang the umbrella by its handle from a hook for a hanging display, prop it open on a table or porch for a freestanding centerpiece, or use faux flowers for a longer-lasting decoration. Enjoy your upcycled floral creation!
