Make a Cute Mini Easter Egg Basket — Easy Step-by-Step DIY
Create an adorable Mini DIY Easter Egg Basket to brighten your holiday table or give as a small handmade gift. This easy craft uses glitter foam paper and simple folding to form a tiny basket you can decorate with miniature flowers and fake grass. Perfect for craft time with kids or for adding a personal touch to your Easter egg hunt.
Supplies needed:
- Glitter foam paper in two colors (example uses gold and green)
- White craft paper (for templates)
- Miniature flower decorations
- Fake grass or shredded paper
- Pen or pencil
- Scissors
- Tape or craft glue (double-sided tape recommended)

How to make the mini Easter basket
Follow these step-by-step instructions using two paper templates (one rounded for the sides and one pointed for the base) that you will cut from glitter foam paper.

1. Make the rounded template
Begin by folding a piece of white paper in half to form a triangle.

Fold that triangle in half again.

Fold it once more to create a small wedge for tracing a smooth rounded edge.

Trace around the outside of the folded paper to form a rounded curve for the basket side.

Trim along your rounded line to create the rounded template shape.

Unfold the trimmed piece and set it aside to use as a template.

2. Make the pointed template for the basket base
Repeat the folding process with a second piece of white paper, but this time trace and cut a pointed edge (for the basket bottom) instead of a rounded one.

3. Transfer templates to glitter foam paper
Use the rounded template to trace onto your first color of glitter foam (gold in this example).

Cut out the gold foam piece and set it aside.

Use the pointed template to trace and cut the second color (green in this example) for the bottom piece.

4. Prepare the side piece
On the rounded foam piece, make small cuts between each rounded "petal" down toward the base — do not cut all the way through. These will become the flaps you join together to form the basket walls.

Add double-sided tape or a small dab of craft glue to the gold side of each petal where it will connect to the neighboring flap.

Flip the foam so the white/template side is up, fold each petal inward and attach each flap to the next to form the circular basket wall.

Once the sides are joined, attach the pointed bottom piece with the white/template side down and the colored side up so it sits inside the basket base.

5. Add the handle and decorations
Cut a long strip of both colors of foam paper to make a small handle.

Attach the green strip to the gold strip (colored sides out) and glue or tape the handle ends to the inside of the basket.

Glue a few miniature flowers or other small decorations onto the handle and the sides as desired.

Fill the basket with fake grass and small treats or eggs, then gift or display.

Tips: Use double-sided tape for cleaner joins, and vary colors or decorations to make a set of coordinating baskets. These make charming place settings, small gifts, or hunt prizes.
